Oh, a Capstone Mission Trip! Do you know where you’re going?
Unfortunately, that information is still TBD. The interesting part that makes this trip unique is that we will be doing more than just participating, but we will also be aiding in creating.
What will your typical schedule look like?
We will be spending our time in the program on Monday through Friday. The days will consist of community time, coursework, track focus, bible study, and discipleship. Tuesday through Friday afternoons will be given for us to have our part-time work.
What kind of part-time job will you have?
Also still TBD, but I’ll be sure to update you all!
How will this help your pursuit of missions?
As mentioned in one of my previous blogs, “What Happens Next?”, my heart’s desire is to pursue coming alongside Adventures in Missions as a missionary, full-time. I want to do this because I feel the Lord has gifted me to be a “unifier of people”. I want to be able to lead other 20-somethings through squad leading, or possibly in the future, squad mentoring. These roles provide opportunities to disciple and pour into the lives of missionaries heading out on their our World Race journey.
How will CGA help you become a better leader?
CGA has five different focuses called “tracks” during the course of the program. I have been accepted to the Field Leadership track, which focuses on teaching how to be Christ-like leaders and how to steward leadership well.
What kind of leader do you hope to become?
I want to follow Jesus’ example. Apart from my faith, when you look at Jesus simply from a leader perspective, He truly transformed what it means to lead well. He lead people through serving. Having a humble, servant-heart, one that sees people, loves them, and is for them, is the kind of leader I want to become. I want to meet people where they are. I want to be empathic and see their struggles and cry with them, or see their celebrations and cheer with them. A believe a good leader truly cares for the well-being of others. As a Christian, I also believe I leader is someone who continually points others to Christ through their words, and especially, their actions. I want to be a leader who loves a person where they’re at, while also seeing their potential and being their biggest cheerleader. I want to lead groups of people to unite under Christ’s name. It truly understand what it looks like to be the Church and to care for each other as brothers and sisters, while also reaching outside the church and ministering to their community.
How can I help?
Awesome! Your support is SO needed. My first request is that you pray. Believe it or not, this may be the craziest thing I’ve done in my life– even more so than the World Race! The power of prayer is not to be discounted in this situation. Pray for me, my fellow team, the financial deadlines, the coursework, and that the Lord will continue to shape and mold my heart to look more like His.
Secondly, if you feel led to partner with me financially– donate! You can donate by clicking the orange button above labeled “Donate!” You can do it one-time or monthly. If you have more questions about this I would love to hear from you, skype with you, or sit down over coffee with you. Thank you for any donation you may provide! Every dollar helps!
And share! If you spread the word by sharing my blogs, telling your church or friends, or reposting photos– it all helps! I’m so thankful for you all who continue to follow this journey and cheer me on. My appreciation for you is through the roof!
